JAKUB LEŚ

Jakub Leś is a seasoned IT professional with a passion for data engineering and more than a decade of experience. Jakub’s career began with a deep dive into RDBMS technologies a decade ago, and he was soon working on a pioneering Big Data project for a leading finance institution. Over the years, Jakub’s expertise has grown to include enterprise-level solutions including lambda architecture, parallel execution frameworks, and design patterns. His has worked with HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce, using Java and Scala programming languages. As the technology landscape evolved, Jakub has also built his skills in the Spark and Flink frameworks, as well as NoSQL and Big Data warehouse execution engines, including Impala and Hive.

Jakub’s commitment to technology extends beyond the workplace. He actively contributes to the OpenStack global community, sending patches and bug fixes to various open-source projects, including NiFi, Spark, and Hive.

 As a Technical Lead, Jakub is responsible for selecting the technology and building partnerships to help drive business growth. He leads a team of 50 engineers solving challenging data problems in the field of finance.

Jakub’s strengths lie in his adaptability, commitment to in-depth research, a keen willingness to embrace new technologies, his ability to build strong relationships within his team, and his capacity to serve as a guiding “buddy” who provides technological guidelines and guardrails.
