In an interview with Future Collars, Monika Mrówka emphasized the importance of understanding and properly utilizing artificial intelligence in various aspects of professional and personal life. She pointed out the challenges associated with the limited understanding of AI learning processes, which often lead to fears of uncontrolled development and potential consequences for humanity.

Future Collars: In the face of growing concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market, what is your opinion on the potential threat AI may pose, for example, to journalism?
Monika Mrówka: Personally, I do not believe that journalists’ jobs are directly threatened by the development of artificial intelligence. Journalism, with its deeply humanistic dimension, critical thinking, and empathy, seems to be an area where AI at its current stage is not able to completely replace humans. Despite this, there is some concern among professionals regarding our ability to fully understand and control AI learning processes. When AI begins to independently acquire knowledge and make decisions, we often cannot trace how specific conclusions were reached, raising questions about transparency and accountability. This phenomenon, known as the “black box,” highlights our limited knowledge of the internal mechanisms of AI’s operation and raises concerns about the possibility of creating systems that surpass our intelligence without fully understanding their functioning. This mix of ignorance and potential power of AI is a reason for reflection, especially in the context of responsible use of technology.
FC: How does your extensive professional experience influence the way you perceive the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence, both in professional life and everyday life?
MM: Working in consulting for a significant company, I have gained a unique perspective on the use of AI, especially in the areas of services and sales. I observe how processes that previously required many steps are now automated thanks to AI. AI’s breakthrough achievements in understanding natural language significantly affect our efficiency – just type a question to receive specific answers. This allows us to reduce repetitive and time-consuming tasks.
Often, when I need to delve into a topic, I find many articles that sometimes turn out to be unrelated to my interest after spending time reading them. Currently, using ChatGPT to summarize an article or its fragments, I can immediately assess whether it’s worth paying more attention to a given issue.
I also use AI to formulate opinions. By giving a command with a request to generate an opinion about a person’s professionalism, I receive a basis for further editing. However, this is a process where interaction and customization of results to one’s own needs are important. Collaborating with AI, rather than relying entirely on it, allows achieving intended goals.
FC: It seems that using AI is relatively simple for needs like summaries or reviews. However, what are the possibilities if we wanted to use AI for more complex tasks? For example, I am a teacher aiming to make lessons more engaging because I observe that students are losing interest. Can AI help in this aspect, considering the emotional nuances of what makes lessons “interesting”?
MM: Absolutely. ChatGPT has the ability to tailor its responses to very specific needs, even if your query is about something as subjective as making lessons more engaging. This technology is already astonishingly versatile, and its capabilities will only grow. As a teacher, if I wanted to engage an exceptionally intelligent student who is bored due to a lack of challenge, I would ask ChatGPT for ideas on adapting my lessons to better meet his needs. Initially, you might receive more general suggestions, but through further collaboration with AI and refining queries, you can arrive at concrete solutions.
However, it is crucial not to rely solely on AI and to critically evaluate the proposed solutions. If the initial proposals do not meet expectations, it is worthwhile to continue the dialogue with AI until you find a satisfactory answer. It is important to adapt your teaching methods in such a way that they meet the individual needs of students.
FC: What other areas, in your opinion, could benefit from the expanded use of artificial intelligence?
